SOMI Walk is set to become a defining addition to the City of South Miami’s evolving skyline.
Designed by FORMGROUP and developed by Alta Development Group, SOMI Walk brings a 173-unit student housing project to the center of one of the area’s most dynamic and walkable neighborhoods. Located in the heart of the South Miami business district, the project sits just a train away from Coral Gables, Pinecrest, and the University of Miami, offering residents unmatched access to some of South Florida’s most desirable destinations.
SOMI Walk reflects a refined and contemporary architectural vision that fully embraces its surroundings. The 16-story building fronts two major streets and features pedestrian access from both, enhancing connectivity and walkability. The main lobby entry is adjacent to a prominent street level plaza that will function as a gathering point for students and the public and is located steps from the South Miami Metrorail station. SOMI Walk will make commuting throughout Miami effortless and residents will enjoy walkable access to a variety of local dining, shopping, and entertainment options, further enhancing the convenience and lifestyle appeal of the neighborhood.

A three-story garage podium anchors the base of the building and features an extensive multi-function terrace and pool deck that includes an outdoor theatre and fitness amenities. FORMGROUP designed SOMI Walk with lifestyle at its core. Students will have access to a curated collection of amenities, including a wellness center, fitness center, study hall, and gathering spaces that balances wellness, productivity, and community.
The project also reflects the City’s forward-looking vision, taking advantage of new zoning that supports higher-density development in key areas—an important step in shaping the future of South Miami’s urban core.
We’re excited to share that SOMI Walk has officially received City Commission approval, marking a major milestone as the project moves toward construction, which is anticipated to begin in 2026.
As momentum continues to build, SOMI Walk is positioned to become one of the most sought-after residential communities in the area—welcoming both local residents and those new to the neighborhood.
